Jorge Optimistic

Sepang, Kompas.com – Spaniard, Jorge Lorenzo, was convinced that the new Yamaha YZR-M1 1000 cc engine would be the most serious challenger to the Honda and Casey Stoner, the 2012 MotoGP. The statement asked after seeing the results of the official test at Sepang, Malaysia on Wednesday (02.29.12).

Admittedly, the Honda is very dominant throughout the 2011 season, the last era 800 cc engine. Stoner’s performance was amazing, because he won 10 victories and is always on the podium – but the race at Jerez in an accident with Valentino Rossi – his way grabbed the world title, and come back to win the Honda bringing premier class since 2006.

However, Lorenzo who was world champion in 2010 is quite optimistic about the development of the Yamaha. He considered this time Yamaha has been able to compete with the new Honda RC213V, compared to last season.
“We’re getting closer than last year, but I do not know if this is enough to fight with them,” said Lorenzo told MCN, Wednesday night.

“We will strive to further improve the motor because we know that Dani (Pedrosa) and Casey will be very fast.”
On the second day of testing at Sepang this, Lorenzo tried a new electronic system and the new YZR-M1 motor with a different engine specifications. Tomorrow, which is the last day of official testing this, Lorenzo will evaluate the new framework.

In the tests that had been halted due to heavy rain from time 12:00 to 15:30, the Lorenzo is ranked second with a time of 2 minutes 01.293 seconds best. Former double world champion 250 cc class was just 0.008 seconds adrift of teammate Ben Spies.

According to him, today the clutch connection is much better and it makes it easier when it entered the bend. Thus, he could be 0.1 seconds faster than yesterday.

“I loved it. This makes it easier when entering corners. I feel have more grip with the rear tire, and I am more confident. Yesterday, the connection is not very consistent. You’re also less wheelie.”

On the second day of official trials, four Honda riders sidelined because their engines are in trouble. This is known as Pedrosa suffered a mechanical problem at the end of the trial yesterday, so Honda decided to conduct further testing until Wednesday afternoon. When the machine is imported from Japan arrived in Sepang, it rains the track so that the new machine could not be tested.

Casey Stoner Rival worth worrying welcoming MotoGP 2012 season. Again, the Repsol Honda rider be the fastest in testing at the Sepang Circuit, Malaysia. In the first day yesterday (28/2), he was ahead of its competitors. This result continuing the great records in the series of trials on the same circuit last month.

JorgeLorenzo To record the fastest time, Stoner looks yet insistent. When other drivers are driving their motors  at 10.00 local time, he was still in the garage. An hour later he came down to the track. He toured the track at least, only 16 laps. His fastest time notes, 2 minutes 1.761 seconds, is recorded on the eighth lap. Stoner 0.244 seconds ahead of teammate Dani Pedrosa.

Stoner time record was well ahead of Yamaha Factory Racing champion Jorge Lorenzo in third. This 2010 world champion was more than half a second adrift, exactly 0.675 seconds, from Stoner. In fact, his teammate Lorenzo, Ben Spies, 1.058 seconds adrift.

Should the opponent worried about Stoner speed is that riders from Australia actually have not used all options available to him. HRC actually provides a new chassis for Stoner and Pedrosa. The new chassis is expected to be a solution to a problem chatter (vibration) that appeared in previous trials. However, because they still want to try some alternative settings of which can be applied in the old chassis, new chassis was not tested at all yesterday.

“Not yet we use a new chassis, until we try out all the possibilities on the old chassis,” said Stoner, as reported by the Crash.

Despite winning a lot, actually yesterday Stoner speed is not maximized. Because, in the trial last month, Stoner able to record under two minutes. At that time, no other drivers passing the records under two minutes.

Although not yet tested the new chassis, the trial yesterday, Stoner tried some new components. One is the braking system. “We tried several alternatives on brake discs. Previously, we had a difficulties in braking when going into the second corner. Now it began to overcome, “he explained.

Meanwhile, Yamaha tried not to panic despite lagging so far from the Repsol Honda. Lorenzo said the record could not be used as a reference. Because, the trial were interrupted by the rain when the session is in progress. As a result, the track slippery when testing was resumed after rain stopped.

“We tried a different machine than the previous trials. It’s hard to compare the record time because of very poor track conditions than before. The times are much slower, “said Lorenzo.

Similar disclosed Spies. “The mechanic gave us a lot of things to try. It is the right path for us. No need to worry on that other people do, “he said.

Meanwhile Suter-BMW getting faster, the hope of claiming the competitiveness of team rules (CRT) emerged in the trial yesterday.

Suter-BMW by Colin Edward posted a record time of the most competitive since the first motor tested CRT. Edward just 3.749 seconds adrift of Stoner posted the fastest time for-12. Previously, CRT teams 6-7 seconds behind.

Edward even faster than Franco Battaini which use a prototype of  Cardion Ducati team motor. Battaini replaces Karel Abraham who must be absent due to injury in the previous test in Jerez.

Rossi Negative Result

Valentino Rossi called second MotoGP test result at Sepang Circuit as a negative. Despite its distance from Casey Stoner thinning, The Ducati hero is still worried.

With the motor Desmosedici GP12, Rossi could become the fifth fastest rider in the inaugural test session at Sepang. He was quite satisfied with the results.

But, in the second test session that was held three days at the same place, Rossi sagging ratings. On closing day, Thursday (1/3/2012), The
Doctor’s just finished tenth.

Indeed, the time difference between Rossi and the fastest rider Stoner, getting lesser. If the first test Rossi is 1.22 seconds behind, in the second test he can cut it to 1.07 seconds. However, it did not reduce Rossi disappointment due to its ranking decline.

“It’s pretty negative,” said Rossi in Crash.

“The only positive thing is the distance to the first position is shorter. But, unfortunately, our position is deteriorating, “he said.

“Riding behind Honda and Yamaha rider after the first test was positive. But, we’ve tried everything here, especially to address our biggest problem, it does not work, “said Rossi.

“our time record are closer to the fastest rider. But, now before us there is Monster Yamaha and Honda satellite riders. For this reason, we are very worried, “he closed.
