Manchester Lost to Ajax, but still, go to Round 16

MANCHESTER – Manchester United surrender to Ajax Amsterdam with the final score of 1-2 on the second leg 32 of the Europa League at Old Trafford on Thursday (2/23/2012). Even so, they are going advance to 16 round as the first leg they win  2-0.

Javier Hernandez scored for Manchester United in the sixth minute. After getting a ball from Dimitar Berbatov, Hernandez outwit opponent defender and kicked the ball into the bottom left corner of the visitors’ goal.

The visitors replied through Aras Ozbiliz in the 37th minute. From outside the box, he fired accurately and De Gea responded late.

At the 87th minute, Ajax reverse the point to 2-1. Goals starting from the execution of a free kick by Orbiliz. He sent the ball into the heart of the opponent’s defense. With his head, Toby Alderweireld sent the ball into goal.

The game was quite open since the beginning. However, Manchester United game coordination are more solid.

In the second minute, for example, Manchester United launched an offensive that led to a shot from Nani, who can be denied by Kenneth Vermeer.

At the 15th minute, Manchester United again doing an the attack that nearly led to score. Hernandez broke through the penalty box and get a chance to shoot the ball. However, he chose to send the ball to Berbatov who is on the other side. The ball then  cut by Jan Vertonghen.

Ajax not create a real threat when Rafael fired a shot from the middle of the penalty box, who shot straight at Vermeer, in the 19th minute.

A minute later, Ajax reply by Miralem Sulejmani. However, his shot blocked. Less than two minutes later, Aras Ozbiliz turn threatening goal. However, his efforts failed in the hands of David De Gea.

MU responded by improving back line coordination and soon mastered the situation. In the middle of the domination of the opponent, Ajax able to equalize through Ozbiliz.

MU tried to seize the advantage by Chicharito in the 38th minute and Tom Cleverley in the 42nd minute. However, the effort has failed in the hands of Vermeer.

Ajax took the initiative to attack early in the second half. After a number of effort failed, Ajax creates opportunities through Diem De Jong in the 58th minute, which can be overcome De Gea.

Ajax has not created a new threat when Manchester United stole the assault that led to the execution of Nani in the 73rd minute. However, his shot hit the crossbar.

Thereafter, MU kept trying to push Ajax. However, their efforts foundered in the middle of the road a lot. In the midst of this pressure, Ajax scored the second goal.

Ajax try to use the time remaining to score the third goal. Although not get mean threat, Ajax failed to add goals when the long whistle sounded.

According to UEFA, during the game, Manchester United created five chances out of six attempts. Meanwhile, Ajax sending for accurateshots from 13 attempts.
