Jerez is Lorenzo’s Land

Jerez – Jorge Lorenzo proved itself worthy as a prime candidate of  2010 MotoGP champion. Yesterday, he was evicted Valentino Rossi   from the top of drivers’ standings after winning the Spanish MotoGP at Jerez circuit. Not only get 25 points, the Fiat Yamaha rider took the title with an awesome action in the presence of 122 thousand fans.

The second series of the total 18 series in 2010 MotoGP series run interesting from the beginning. Start from the second position, Lorenzo had slipped into fifth place on the first lap. First position was acquired by the drivers which are 23-year-old tomorrow,  on lap-27  or the last lap. To take that position, he was twice nudging with pole position winner Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda), who previously led the race.

Despite losing three positions, Lorenzo did not despair. In the middle of the race, he overtook the duo of Marlboro Ducati’s Casey Stoner and Nicky Hayden. Thereafter, Lorenzo seems to be finish in third place because Pedrosa and Rossi which are in the top two, go far enough.

However, Lorenzo did not give up. He continues to shorten the distance to Rossi. On lap 21, he overtook his team mate who was having problems with the shoulder.

After passing Rossi, Lorenzo signs that will win more and more clear. This is because Lorenzo time per lap record better than Pedrosa. At three laps before the finish, Lorenzo was just behind Pedrosa. Several times both Spaniard bikers to make MotoGP fans held their breath to fight side to side.

After failing on several occasions, Lorenzo finally managed to beat Honda’s mainstay on the last lap. Lorenzo pass Pedrosa on the corner of the side in the sixth.

”I can not describe. This is one of my dream to win at Jerez and beat Dani (fellow Spaniard). It is remarkable" ,said Lorenzo as told to Reuters.

For Lorenzo, it was his first victory this season as well at Jerez. Last year, the rider who wore the number 99 failed to finish. Whereas the previous year he finished third.

Lorenzo’s remarkable victory was celebrated with extraordinary way too. As usual, he stuck a black flag marked with a white circle and red cross in the center in one corner of the Jerez circuit. Lorenzo mark that Jerez has conquered.

Not only that, Lorenzo also plunged into the lake on one side of the track. He did it when still wearing racing clothes, complete with helmet. ”I saw the lake last Thursday. At that time I imagine it would be fun to celebrate the victory with a throw down there,”he said.

Pedrosa himself said not too disappointed with the loss of victory on the final lap. Instead he was surprised to be in the forefront until the last lap. Pedrosa aware of the threat of Lorenzo in the last ten laps.

”In the last ten laps, I know Lorenzo could be up to half a second faster than Rossi and me. Eventually, he became too powerful. I try to restrain him, but not impossible,”said Pedrosa.

These results make Pedrosa at least not worse than the previous record at Jerez. Among the four previous races, his performance no worse than second place. Pedrosa took victory in 2008 and runner-up in the 2006 edition, in 2007, and 2009.
