Benzema : Madrid is my idol

MADRID – Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema claimed no regrets about leaving Lyon to join Real Madrid instead of Manchester United (MU), in the end of last season, though now, he’s just a bench warmer. According to him, his performance is getting better and next season, he was ready to compete with Gonzalo Higuain, competed for starter position.

Late last season, MU intends to buy Benzema from Lyon to strengthen the quality of the attack, after Cristiano Ronaldo left the Red Devil, who also moved to Madrid. However, the offer was rejected because according to Benzema, Madrid is the best club of the world that he idolized. Moreover, in Madrid, he had chance to play with some world’s best players.

Benzema was then being a team with Ronaldo and Ricardo Kaka. However, he did not play a lot with them because he can not compete with Higuain. Until the 35th week Primera Division, Benzema just playing as many as 24 times with ten of them as a substitute. Compare with Higuain, who appeared as much as 29 times, with 25 of them as a starter.

Realizing the situation, Benzema was not lost spirit. He admitted learn a lot from the humility of Madrid living legend, Raul Gonzalez, who remained calm, although he also loses the main venue.

"I can not see my first season at Real as a failure. Of course, I’m more happy if it runs smoothly. However, I’m playing and when you see someone like Raul sat on the chair back up, you learn a lot," said Benzema.

"Do I regret not joining Manchester United? No. I have dreamed of Real. This is the first season to learn. (Prior to Madrid) I do not know what kind of season (football competition than in France). Now I know and next season, since the first day, I’ll be at the best level, "
